DONALD COLLINS, JR, MD, FACS

Donald R. Collins, Jr., M.D., F.A.C.S. is a plastic surgeon specializing in aesthetic plastic surgery who has been in practice for more than twenty-five years in downtown Houston.  He is board certified by The American Board of Plastic Surgery and participates in ABMS Maintenance of Certification.  A native Houstonian, Dr. Collins was the 1979 valedictorian at Klein High School, graduated cum laude from Rice University, and then received his medical degree from the University of Texas Medical School at Houston.  He was an intern and resident in General Surgery and completed his residency in Plastic Surgery at St. Joseph Hospital in Houston, Texas.
 
Dr. Collins is Past President of the Houston Society of Plastic Surgeons and is a member of the teaching staff of the Houston Methodist Hospital Plastic Surgery Residency Training Program and a member of the adjunct clinical faculty in the Division of Plastic Surgery at UTMB Health.  He is Clinical Assistant Professor of Surgery at Weill Cornell Medical College.  At St. Joseph Medical Center, he served as Chief of Staff from 2008 - 2009.  Dr. Collins is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons and is involved with numerous other professional societies including the Houston Surgical Society, the Texas Society of Plastic Surgeons, the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery, and the International Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery.  On a national level, he served as a member of the Public Education Committee of the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery.  Internationally, he served as Local Arrangements Co-Chairman for the 17th Congress of The International Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery in 2004 which was attended by plastic surgeons from over 60 countries.  Dr. Collins has been selected multiple times by his peers to be included in the listing of “Texas Super Doctors” by Texas Monthly magazine.  He lectures frequently and has published multiple articles in professional journals on a variety of plastic surgery topics.  Dr. Collins’ community involvement includes serving on the board of directors of The Health Museum and the CHRISTUS Foundation for HealthCare.
